South Korea’s Samsung Group reconfirmed that it has no intention of listing its affiliate units Samsung Everland and Samsung SDS, reported a local news agency.“We can state with absolute certainty that the group has no plans to list Samsung Everland and Samsung SDS for the next few years,” said a Samsung official Wednesday. “We hope this prevents investments aimed at profiting from the margins on hopes that share values would increase once listed.”Samsung had never admitted to any intention of listing its two affiliates, but industry rumors have been circulating on the high likelihood of the event. One reason is that Samsung Everland is at the top of Samsung’s corporate governance structure as it takes part in the group’s complicated cross-ownership, cross-share arrangement.Moreover, the scions of Samsung Group own a substantial chunk of shares for the amusement park operator as Samsung Electronics CEO Lee Jae-yong stands as majority shareholder with a 25.1 percent stake, while Hotel Shilla CEO Lee Bu-jin and Executive Vice President of Cheil Industries Lee Seo-hyun own 8.37 percent stakes each.
